The Seher Atmaca House, located in Malatya Province, Arapgir District, consists of two separate buildings and is also referred to locally as “The Priest’s Mansion.” It holds significant importance as a material cultural asset that embodies all the characteristics of traditional Malatya and Arapgir houses.

The property consists of two structures, one built in 1837 and the other estimated to have been constructed in the 1930s. These buildings are referred to as structures 1xx and 2xx. Both are situated on the same parcel and share a common wall located in the center. Additionally, they are positioned in an attached layout. Although the floor plans of the buildings differ in levels, there are no interconnections between the structures on the regular floors. However, transitions between the two are possible on the basement and ground floors. The two buildings feature separate load-bearing systems, staircases, and construction styles.

Structure 1xx:
Built in 1837, this structure consists of a basement, ground floor, and a regular floor.

  • The basement walls are constructed of original stone masonry.
  • The ground floor walls are partly original stone masonry and partly original wooden walls.
  • The regular floor walls are also partly original stone masonry and partly original wooden walls.
  • The roof is a modern wooden gable structure covered with sheet metal.

Structure 2xx:
Estimated to have been built in the 1930s, this structure includes a second basement, a basement, a ground floor, and a regular floor.

  • The second basement and basement walls are constructed of original stone masonry.
  • The ground floor walls are partly original stone masonry and partly original wooden walls.
  • The regular floor walls are also partly original stone masonry and partly original wooden walls.
  • The roof is a modern wooden gable structure covered with sheet metal.
